This is probably a little preemptive on my part, creating a comment policy when I only have four comments and very few readers, but I’d figured that I’d nip any potential problems in the bud.
After reading many, many blogs and comment threads I’ve come to realize that publicly posting my thoughts has the potential to lead to some very unpleasant situations (I’m half hoping that no one ever decides to read this blog, so I never have to deal with some of the shit I’ve seen). I have no interest in getting into flame wars or dealing with trolls. So, here is my policy:
1. No hate speech. No qualifications or explanations.
2. Derailing won’t be allowed. Keep comments about the post.
Um… That is really it. And isn’t that enough? I welcome criticism but not abuse. And I have never, ever believed that liberal bullshit that all opinions are valid. They aren’t and I have no problems with censorship. If you want to write comments that violate the two rules? Write them somewhere else: I certainly won’t stand in your way.
Also, if you are gonna step up into my space, I will engage with you on my terms. Which might mean sarcasm and outright dismissals of your opinions. I’m not terrifically interested in debate. You disagree with me? Okay. That is fine.
